We at Military Logistics Forum recently conducted an Inventory Management Survey that was designed to look at several aspects of inventory management, controls and visions among the military logistics community. We also wanted to see the level of awareness and what impact Section 328 of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2010 was having on performance, planning and support for the warfighter. A synopsis of the survey results can be found on page 7 along with some of the key take-aways. I would like to thank everyone that participated in the survey— whether the online version, at a trade show or a copy you may have received in the mail.

If there are any topics that you think would be interesting survey subjects and findings that would be of interest to the LOG community, please drop me a line and share your thoughts with me. It may turn out that we can put together a survey whose results would be of great interest to you and your peers.

Another protest has been filed with the Government Accountability Office pertaining to the Air Force KC-X tanker replacement program. Key Air Force leadership has expressed the utmost confidence that the award with be on schedule despite protests and complaining from the parties involved. From where I sit the latest protest is coming from a company that offered a bid after the closing date. I’m pretty sure that there has been publicity about the project for at least a little while and the closing date was not a well-guarded secret. This project has to get off the ground (sorry for the pun!) and I hope that the GAO is able to move quickly on a ruling on this and any other legal/formality issues that are placed in between the warfighter and a new tanker.
