Dunwoody Receives Fourth Star

General Ann E. Dunwoody, commander, Army Materiel Command, has been promoted to the rank of four-star general. She becomes the first female four-star general in U.S. Army history.

Brigadier General Kenneth S. Dowd has been nominated to the grade of major general. Dowd is currently serving as director for logistics, J-4, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

Vice Admiral Alan S. Thompson has become the 16th director of the Defense Logistics Agency with headquarters at Fort Belvoir, Va. Thompson relieves LTG Robert T. Dail and will be responsible for providing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, other federal agencies, and joint and allied forces with a variety of logistics, acquisition and technical services.

Brigadier General Kevin A. Leonard has been nominated to the grade of major general. Leonard is currently en route to serve as deputy chief of staff for logistics and operations, U.S. Army Materiel Command, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Brigadier General Margaret H. Woodward, commander, 89th Airlift Wing, Air Mobility Command, Andrews Air Force Base, Md., has been assigned as vice commander, 18th Air Force, Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, Ill.

Major General Robert H. McMahon, director, maintenance, deputy chief of staff, logistics, installations and mission support, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., has been assigned as director, logistics, deputy chief of staff, logistics, installations and mission support, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Brigadier General Robert M. Brown, program executive officer, soldier/commanding general, Soldier Systems Center, Fort Belvoir, Va., has been assigned as deputy for acquisition and systems management, Offi ce of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (acquisition, logistics and technology), Washington, D.C.

Major General Gary T. McCoy, director, logistics readiness, deputy chief of staff, logistics, installations and mission support, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., has been assigned as commander, Air Force Global Logistics Support Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Rear Admiral Raymond P. English, deputy director of operations, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., has been assigned as director, Joint Reserve Forces, J9, Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir, Va. ♦
