Honeywell International is a $34 billion diversified, technology business providing original equipment, upgrades and applied technologies that support our military around the world.

Q: What is Honeywell doing in military logistics?

A: These are complex times that call for new, non-traditional, more expeditionary approaches. As the Honeywell Defense Logistics Leadership team, we believe that the global environment will also require increased demand-tofulfillment integration, greater response agility, and generally more critical mass.

“Honeywell is growing its global defense business to more effectively extend the useful lives of C-130, C-5 and F-15 aircraft, CH-47, UH-60 and AH-64 helicopters, the Abrams family of main battle tanks, and to support the equipment reset challenges in the Middle East and around the world,” said Mark Howes, president of Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc. (HTSI).

Q: How will Honeywell accomplish this?

A: HTSI is reshaping our military logistics enterprise. In the past year, we have integrated our platform and mission logistics organizations, built a very large support facility in Kuwait, and acquired industry leader, Dimensions International; all to build critical mass and expand capability. Honeywell’s presence in 90 countries provides an operational base advantage to support global pre-positioning of war reserve assets and to make our military more agile. We currently support billion dollar programs and our objective can be summed up in two words; mission-ready. As the requirements of our customers evolve, we transform our business to support them. Our acquisition of Dimensions International, integrated into HTSI, is an example of this commitment.

Q: What are the defense industry challenges in Honeywell’s focus?

A: There is a transformation occurring in front-line support requirements. In today’s environment, frequent missions and remote operating environments tax aging equipment and stress overextended supply chains. More than 40 percent of the ground equipment in-theater needs to be reset. Billions of dollars worth of worn military equipment is destroyed or worn out monthly.

Honeywell’s equipment pre-positioning, maintenance, repair and overhaul, and up-armoring capabilities enhance the military’s ability to respond quickly to trouble spots across the globe. Its experts help to fix equipment at the front-line and depot; extending the useful lives of aging assets. “With Honeywell, the U.S. armed forces military are more combat mission ready with lower levels of manpower,” said Russ Wright, vice president of Honeywell Logistics. “Our military can achieve more with the support of committed companies like Honeywell than they could achieve on their own.”

Q: What types of military logistics contracts does Honeywell perform?

A: Honeywell has supplied and maintained engines and secondary power systems for the U.S. military for more than 60 years. In a first-ever partnership expected to reduce supply chain costs and increase efficiency, Honeywell will provide logistics service and depot maintenance support for the B-2 and C-130 at Hill Air Force Base.

Honeywell has managed large, integrated and complex logistics programs for the U.S. Marines for over twenty years. The U.S. Navy selected Honeywell to compete for contracts to design, install and maintain anti-terrorism equipment at naval bases around the world.

Honeywell was also recently selected by the U.S. Army to refurbish medium-sized tactical vehicles in Kuwait as part of the Theater Provided Equipment Refurbishment (TPER) program. In 2006, we were awarded a separate Army contract for Total InteGrated Engine Revitalization (TIGER), a program to extend the life of the AGT1500 turbine engine used to power the Abrams tank.
